A creative space to SOLVE problems and BUILD passions

The E2E Incubator™ is a space where every student can discover their place in the world.

This is accomplished through a world-class, innovative learning space that is a headquarters for collaboration between students, priority sector industry professionals, educators, parents and community members to reimagine learning in a changing world.

E2E is the combination of a makerspace, a learning lab, and a classroom. With areas to tinker, ideate, collaborate, and learn from educators and industry experts, the learning space design of E2E was created by students for students. Infused with the design principles of flexibility, collaboration, connectedness and transparency, E2E supports student and teacher agency in an environment that welcomes creativity and critical thinking.

reimagining learning

reimagining learning

E2E gives teachers the chance to take students out of the classroom and reimagine what learning looks like. How do we get our students to become critical and innovative thinkers? Give them the opportunities to practice those skills! No longer are students sitting waiting for information to be given to them. Students are taking learning to a new level as they engage in a variety of lessons that teach them Self Efficacy, Self Esteem, and Mindset. The end result shows students more aware of their identity and in turn more prepared for college and careers.

Behind the Project

Behind the Project

THE JACOBS INSTITUTE

The Joan and Irwin Jacobs Institute for Equity and Innovation is a University of San Diego-based, non-profit institute that is (re)designing learning to close opportunity gaps in a changing world. The Jacobs Institute and the University of San Diego are proud to have launched the E2E Lab and partner with San Diego Unified School District who is hosting the pilot site at Kearny High School. This project is a part of the World of Work initiative that aspires to help students understand their strengths, know they have a place in the world, and have a space to tinker.

SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

San Diego Unified serves more than 130,000 students in preschool through 12th grade and is the second largest district in California. The student population is extremely diverse, representing more than 15 ethnic groups and more than 60 languages and dialects. Located in the heart of the San Diego Unified School District, Kearny High School is situated in the Linda Vista community and will be the host of the E2E Incubator™ pilot site.

CANDICE FEE

As a counselor and psychology teacher, Candice has found a passion for helping students discover their futures by learning about themselves. She believes in educating the whole student and has developed the curriculum used in the lab to reflect that. After a series of lessons in the lab, students are able to understand who they are as people, what their strengths, interests, and values are, and how to apply those to various careers and college majors. Candice partners with industry to give students experiences outside of the classroom such as internships, job shadows, and exposure to workshops led by partners. The E2E Lab is making the impossible possible!
